The learning environment of the flute studio at Ithaca College is one of support, collaboration, and healthy competition.  This atmosphere is an important component our students’ achievement of excellence and diversity as flutists and musical artists, professionalism, and success in their chosen careers.

Our weekly Repertoire and Pedagogy class gives our students the opportunity to perform, practice their performance and artistic skills, receive feedback from their peers, learn about pedagogy, and develop experience in giving effective and constructive feedback.

Weekly private lessons include development of effective practice techniques, work on posture and body alignment as it relates to breathing, tone and technique, balancing the advanced development of foundational skills (tone, breathing, technique, articulation) with performance skills (phrasing, style, interpretation, musical communication, stage presence) and the creative process.
